The British Technion Society Cambridge Group

There are historic links between the Technion, Churchill College, Cambridge and the Churchill Family. The central building of the Technion, the Churchill Auditorium is named in memory of Sir Winston Churchill and his grandson Mr Winston S Churchill was the Honorary Vice President of the British Technion Society.

Students of the Technion often study at Churchill College as part of a unique student exchange programme.

The Cambridge group has a close interest in the scientific and technological developments of the Technion and encourages speakers to visit Cambridge.

Please call the London Head Office - 020 7495 6824 if you require any more information or would like to attend the functions. Donations for these events are welcome.

Recent News

In March the Cambridge Society hosted guest speaker, Michael Brodsky, Director of Public Relations at the Embassy of Israel. His subject – The Political and Economic Challenges for Israel, which emphasised the problems with Israel's neighbours and the essential support of the USA. Many questions were raised regarding the peace initiatives such as land swaps, problems in Jerusalem and West Bank developments.

He emphasised that Hamas had been democratically elected in the eyes of Israel, which can be seen by many as an issue. It was also recognised that diplomatic initiatives and public relations generally are a big disappointment for Israel’s image and he acknowledged that something quite radical had to be done and was already being initiated by the Israeli government.

The subject of anti Semitism was also broached and found to be on the increase particularly in the Europe and the UK.
