The Excellence for Israel Prize will be awarded in the Rome at the end of the month to Dr. Shulamit Levenberg of the Technion’s Faculty of Biomedical Engineering. The prize, under the aegis of the Italian Minister of Culture, is being awarded in the framework of events being held in Italy for Israel’s 60th anniversary.
Similar prizes will be awarded to men and women active in a number of fields (the arts, cinema, music, economics and scientific research) and also to Italians who have dedicated themselves to advancing Israeli/Italian cooperation. Among those taking part in the event are: Nobel Prize Laureate, Prof. Rita Levi-Montalcini; Zvi Yanai, Yosef Cedar, Noam Sharif, Dani Caravan and Arturo Schwartz.
The prize is a bronze statue made especially for the event by the young, well-known Italian artist Alex Pina.
